RARE A1/B3 VERY FIRST PRESS UK 1975 HARVEST SHVL 814
Due to this album being one of my top 5 albums of all time- and after purchasing a few dodgy copies of this album from eBay over the years which were more than over-graded,I am going to give a track by track breakdown so the buyer knows exactly what they are purchasing.
SIDE 1
Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I–V) - Intro has very minor background noise during the quiet opening and sound very good. As we move into the part where David's guitar comes in the sound is solid, crisp, clean and a superb joy to hear. There is some very, very minor background crackle when Richards keyboards enter, but has completely disappeared by the time David’s next solo starts. Then his vocals again comes in crisp and clean and free from any background crack right up to the end of the track. The Sax is utter lush. Rating: N/M/Mint for most of the track
Welcome to the Machine - The blend between tracks has a bit of background crackle until David’s steel guitar comes in. The rest of the track is faultless, punchy and powerful to hear. Rating: N/M to Mint for most of the track
SIDE 2
Have a Cigar – Again this track plays faultlessly. Roy Harper’s vocals are front and centre with no distortion, and there is great separation between David’s guitar and Richard’s synth. A pure delight which I listened to cranked up loud. Rating:Mint.
Wish You Were Here- Due to how quiet this track starts out there is some obvious crackle on the intro and at one point a single pop. However, once David starts singing the track becomes faultless. But…if you are after an utter silent and mint version of this song, you might find you’re slightly disappointed. Which is why I can only rate this track: E++/Near Mint.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts VI–IX)- Apart from a bit of crack right at the end of the album as the music fades out, this is another almost mint track. In fact, I couldn’t help but turn this up even louder for Richards sythn is dark, clean and crisp, and as always,I got so lost in this track I didn’t want it to end. Rating: N/M to mint for most of the track.
If it weren’t for a few little bits of crackle and one pop this would be a very RARE mint version of this album. However due to these few imperfections I rate this album as Near Mint for it will not disappoint any Floyd fan looking to own a beautiful first release of this album.
Sleeve Near Mint Sleeve still has nice crisp clean white color and shows minimal wear as seen in the pictures. All labels are pristine.
