Greetings music lovers and welcome back to my listings… It’s been quite a while since I had the pleasure of offering you lucky lot some serious slices of vinyl, but am happy to report that it’s time, once again, to thin-out the old vinyl vault. As ever, it’s either the more interesting, rare, book valued stuff, or pristine copies of those more recent lp you’d always been after… or in some cases, both! The best quality of service and product are still my mantras from the start to finish of the process, though listings will be less regular, as life is both somewhat more hectic and mobile these days…to that end, records are played, graded, listed, pre-packaged and then sold individually. I no longer have the luxury of time during the week to individually package and dispatch items, so they are offered individually, with all pricing precisely as per the listings. Apologies, but I can not combine items.

However … the MacLizardking deal has not changed…

·      I grade honestly to a STRICT “Record Collector” grading system.

·      I ONLY sell quality vinyl, some rare, some far less so, but always the best I can find.

·      If it says “NM”… it means “NM”.

·      Start prices are NOT indicative of condition, so there’s serious potential bargains to be had.

·      Every lp is re-housed in a high-quality polly-lined inner sleeve & a thick pollythene outer sleeve.

·      Every lp is both visually and aurally inspected. The ONLY way to appoint an accurate grading.

·      Every lp is re-housed in the polly sleeve, outside the original prior to packaging. No splits!

·      I l feedback when you pay… no “ransoming” here! You’ve done your bit, so now it’s up to me.

·      I still package each lp personally and with a ludicrous level of care…practically a work of art.

·      I strive to provide the VERY best product and service levels possible, with detailed descriptions.

·      I do all this as I genuinely love both music and people, and e-bay is a fantastic forum for both.

Introduction and MacLizardking’s Initial Review: Greetings music-lovers and welcome to an utter peach of a listing. This one falls under the guise of the “property of a lady”, for whom I’m only too happy to do a bit of leg work and list these gems. ALL proceeds from this sale, less the e-bay fee, will be passed on to the original owner, a particularly charming, chic, youthful and rather hip individual, despite, shall we say, having scored up a truly surprising “life-innings”! I was requested to appraise a collection of primarily classical vinyl, but found amongst their number this utter stunner, along with two other “pop” lp’s. It is as it appears…a FIRST PRESS, near-flawless vinyl (physically and aurally) housed in the original FIRST ISSUE sleeve and tri-clipped corner, thick-card inner - now with a brand new polly liner to protect the STUNNING vinyl. Superbly, someone had the foresight to leave the original black shrink-wrap in place … all the more remarkable, given the usually lost outer sticker has been put on upside-down, so, when first opened, the spine side, as opposed to sleeve opening, would have been exposed! On the topic of “lost” I must report that the Post Card of the “diving man” is no longer present with this set, but, if you’re after a seriously early issue of (imho) one of the greatest lp’s (Top 10?) ever made, I rather think you’ve just found it!

Now, please read on for the full, glorious details… being both my personal description statement and accuracy of condition guarantee, not to mention the stack of photo’s contained within the listing detail itself. As above, all listings benefit from a full play through, on my “every-glitch-audible” grading set up of classic wooden Revolver deck and TEAC amp, all pulsing through a rather splendid pair of Wharfedale Pacific Pi-40 floor-standers.

Detailed Cover & Inner-sleeve Review.

Specific cover grading: M-

Comment: Tricky to review the sleeve itself, as most of it is not visible due to the original shrink-wrap being in place, but all is as per the photos and the description below.

Front: Original “robot hand-shake” logo sticker, on tight, black shrink-wrap, itself open at bottom left corner and sleeve opening.

Back: Perfect flip of front. Light ridging to sleeve opening and solitary stress crease toward opening.

Edges & Corners: All dink-free and just slightest fuzzing to exposed corner tip extremities.

Spine: Perfect shape and still wrapped…only the last numeral of the cat number visible “4” with the rest still being covered.

Inner-sleeve: Clipped, recessed sleeve opening in NM condition, only the VERY slightest hint of shaping from the vinyl, now with brand new polly-liner.

Extras: None – as stated above, NO Postcard…sorry!

Record Collector Sleeve Gradings;

M (Mint) : “The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition”

NM (Near Mint) : As M, but also as “Sod’s Law” occasionally dictates, with one miniscule physical flaw, that has no effect on the overall quality of the item, yet means it’s no longer “perfect”; i.e. a solitary tiny rub-mark or dink.

M- (Mint Minus) : A notch below NM, but indicating a cover that’s still in fantastic condition, though it‘s just possible to see it’s been slid carefully in and out of a collection over the years; i.e. lightest speckled lower edge ware, the odd tiny stress crease to or a whisper of fuzzing to extremities of the corner tips.

EX (Excellent): “The cover and packaging might have light ware and/or creasing”.

VG (Very Good) : “Normal ware and tare on the cover and extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable”.

G (Good) : “The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc”.

F (Fair) : “The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced”.

P (Poor) : “The cover or contents will be badly damaged or partly missing”.

Detailed Vinyl/s & Labels Review.

Specific Vinyl grading: EX+

Comment: One seriously awesome listen…from Crazy Diamond, to Crazy Diamond, via two plays of Wish You Were Here, for reasons stated below…

Visual: Beautiful. Stunning depth of sheen and very near flawless, glossy vinyl gem. Yes, it’s been played a FEW times, and, I suspect, primarily for “Wish You Were Here”, as there are a couple of miniscule (2/3mm?) surface marks at the start of this track alone. All else is just light surface marks from removal from the card sleeve.

Audio: I was going to give this an easy, strong M-, but having done a reference check on my anniversary re-issue copy, as, right at the very start of Wish You Were Here, during the radio tuning and atmospheric crackle (that’s supposed to be there!) I noticed a couple of LIGHT, semi-repetitive ticks, that do blend beautifully with the overall ambience of the piece, but, obviously, weren’t intended to be there! Genuinely, they do NOT detract from the incredible overall reproduction on this STUNING listen, start to finish, but they are there and, therefore must be mentioned! I detected the slightest tickle of surface noise on the intro to Shine On Part 1 and a slightly more pronounced level on the actual play-out, swell of Shine On Pt 9. Elsewise, this one’s a superb listen and one not to miss!

Labels: Flawless, not a mark on them.

Record Collector Vinyl Gradings;

M (Mint) : “The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.”

NM (Near Mint) : As above, but, as “Sod’s Law” occasionally dictates, with one miniscule physical flaw, as detailed above, that has no effect on the overall quality of the item, yet means it’s no longer “perfect”; i.e. a solitary spindle-mark or blush, but still aurally perfect.

M- (Mint Minus) : Still a truly beautiful vinyl, that it’s just possible to spot that it’s been played before. Possibly the lightest of paper-marks on the physical or even a whisper of crackle on the play-in’s alone, but still practical perfection on the aural.

EX (Excellent) : “The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality”.

VG (Very Good) : “The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch”.

G (Good) : “The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches”

F (Fair) : “The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump”.

P (Poor) : “The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc”.

B (Bad) : “The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler”.

After the auction…

Registration and Insurance of Packages

All invoices will automatically offer the option of registration, providing both a tracking number and up to £30.00 compensation. These fees, on packages valued less than £30, are optional, but are offered on all sales invoices as standard, it is your choice as to whether or not to take up this additional cover.

“Signed For Service” UK = £1.00 per package. Europe & Rest of The World = £5.00 per package.

Please note: I always try to post as quickly as possible, but I no longer have the luxury of both living and working next door to a post office and having a job that allowed me to take the office phone with me when I was dispatching your lovelies! Therefore, it’s going to be the Saturday morning after you’ve paid that I load all my packages in to the jeep and head out in to the wilds to the nearest post office! These costs are for the standard GB postage rate and at least £1.00’s worth of packaging materials! There’s been an increase in p&p, but this is simply as everything else seems to have gone up too! Each package also takes me considerable time and attention to wrap, but I’m giving you my time and great care for free! As you’ll see when you get the thing, there is no profit and the charges are not negotiable; particularly post sale!

Payment Methods:

PayPal is now the ONLY method of choice for either UK or overseas buyers.

Problems, Refunds & The “Boink” Factor:

·       If the item you win differs from the description above, I will refund your original payment.

·       Refund will be issued on receipt of item in original packaging in the same condition as when dispatched.

·       Proof of dispatch certification is obtained for every package.

·       I take GREAT care with packaging and have only ever had 3 arrive damaged out of over 2500!

Whilst this may all appear slightly excessive on the detail front, I do go to great lengths to ensure the accuracy of these listings and promote “service” and “honesty” as treasured commodities as, on rare occasion, I have found them to be lacking in (one or two) others with whom I have dealt on e-bay… however, NOT here! I feel I should also add that I have been professionally involved in either the music or entertainment industry for the last 20 years and as a fan of all genres of “quality” music since year “dot”…  To verify all this manic attention to detail please do check my feedback, which I go to great lengths to keep positive and my buyers are both cool and kind enough to leave.
