Description
I will be listing quite a large number of rare Pink Floyd albums over the coming days and weeks. Why not add me as a favourite seller and get informed automatically when new items are listed.
For sale here is one of Pink Floyds most iconic albums originally from 1975, "Wish you were here". This is a genuine 1st UK pressing with A1 / B3 matrices. Mothers and stampers are as follows:- SIDE ONE 1 / ROM SIDE TWO 2 / ROA Very early numbers indeed! Pressed on a nice heavyweight vinyl, at 147 grams.
Also included in the auction are the original serrated edged postcard, an additional postcard, a DVD including live footage, interviews and the like. plus a coaster depicting the iconic album artwork.
The cover is still enclosed within the original manufacturers black shrink-wrap, which safely covers probably 90% plus of the cover.
The inner sleeve is made from a very heavy (not flimsy like later pressings) card and has no faults at all. A lovely example.
The vinyl visually is really exceptionally good. Some wispy hairlines here and there, but nothing that can be felt, or even look worrying. Visual grade is excellent.
Fully play-graded as below.
Referring to my play-grading notebook, I made the following comments. Firstly, I have to say that this release was very prone to noise. Due to the success of "Dark side", the follow up album was pressed in massive numbers and quality suffered as a result. This copy certainly bucks that trend! Side one starts really well with barely a hint of surface noise. The side plays superbly well until the very start of "welcome to the machine" where there are 3 light clicks. Apart from the tiniest hint of background noise in some of the quietest sections, side one plays with great detail and clarity. Grades excellent. Side two plays even better. I made no adverse comments at all to the whole side and confidently grade side two my highest used grade of excellent plus.
So, a fantastic very early first UK pressing with first and second mother stampers, pressed on heavyweight vinyl, sounding amazing. Overall the vinyl, visually and audio performance, grade as excellent at least.
Both postcards are in excellent original condition.
The DVD is in excellent condition and plays perfectly.
The artwork coaster is brand new and mint.
I am sure the winner will be pleased with it, but I do offer a full return and refund policy if not as described. Nice to find a copy that plays as quietly as this one does.
Happy to post overseas, but not to Russia, Belarus or Ukraine. Any bids from those countries will be cancelled. Postage within the UK is by Royal Mail 48, so delivered in 2 days. If my quoted price is more than the actual cost once I have that figure, I will refund the difference immediately. I do not and will not profit on postage and packing costs.
