Description
Over the next few weeks and months I will be listing a quite lovely collection of Pink Floyd albums.
These will all be at least decent playing copies, but mostly will be of excellent quality, some even better than that. They will include some UK 1st pressings, and if not they will be extremely early pressings. All matrix/mother/stamper combinations will be listed (so long as they are readable!) so you can tell exactly what you are bidding on. All gradings are by visual examination and by play-grading, strictly to record collector guidelines.
So here we have a fantastic copy of Pink Floyds iconic album from 1975. "Wish you were here". The matrices of A1 and B3 put this as the very earliest example possible. It also has the very rarest side opening inner sleeve, unlike most top loaders.
I have two observations to make before a detailed description of all parts of this collection. This album has barely been played, and I back this up with some pointers. Firstly, the vinyl is like new. No marks. The labels show no signs of play. When putting the disc on to my turntable, the disc resisted going onto the spindle. The spindle hole is tight and the disc needs easing on and off. A sure sign this has hardly been played.
The cover grades as excellent. The black shrink-wrap is mostly complete. Has only light handling marks at open edge. Cover sticker fully intact. A great example.
The inner sleeve is almost excellent, with just a small slit formed to one edge from the disc cutting into it and a light disc impression in the card.. As previously mentioned, this is the extremely rare side opening inner sleeve, as seen in the photos. Please note, the vinyl is now stored in a new anti-static inner sleeve.
The vinyl surfaces visually are nigh on pristine. Not a mark worthy of mention. The labels only show a couple of spindle marks per side. This has had very little play. As a visual grading, the vinyl gets a very strong Ex+. Mothers and stampers are 2 PT and 2 OT. Very early indeed.
The sound quality has been fully play-graded, strictly to record collector guidelines. Side one starts really well and quietly. Over the whole side I heard a total of 3 little dust pops. In my experience, these either clean out, or play out. Those were my only observations. The side plays almost perfectly. So unusual for this album, which suffered badly from surface noise. Side two plays equally as well. My only note was there are 4 light ticks at the start of the track "wish you were here". Aside of that, nothing. This is as good a copy as I have ever heard. This one is an absolute beauty. My play-grade for the entire album is the highest I ever give to a non-sealed album. That is excellent plus (Ex+).
The genuine comic book style tour programme from 1974 is in fabulous condition for its age, with no damage worthy of mention. Just some light age discolouration.
The DVD is in great shape and plays fine. The crinkle edged original postcard of the diving man is excellent, and the other included artwork postcards are in superb order.
To find a UK very first pressing of this iconic album in this condition is extremely unusual. This album sounds as it did when it left the record store. IT IS THAT GOOD.
All albums will be housed in a brand new heavy duty polythene cover. All vinyl's will be housed in a new anti-static inner sleeve. I pack my albums for transit in the most secure packaging imaginable and send next day delivery postage with The Royal Mail. I only charge exactly what it costs me, sometimes less!
I accept returns if I am notified as soon as possible after you receive the album. This has to be due to it being wrongly described. Not just for a change of mind. I take the time to provide quality photographs of the album, along with a detailed description, so please respect this.
I will post overseas, but not to Russia, Belarus or Ukraine. Postage within the EU is around £17. Worldwide postage is around £26. If these prices differ once I have packed and weighed them, I will refund the difference immediately.
