Description
**1st UK pressing** of “Meddle” by Pink Floyd, SHVL795 A1U/B1U
Released 1971 on the Harvest label (SHVL 795). Garrod & Lofthouse gate fold sleeve, (textured). Original Harvest anti static lined bag.
Cover
I would grade the cover as “Excellent ”. Clean textured cover with the colours still strong and vibrant. Minimal edge and corner wear. Some scuffing to bottom left front corner and the spine, (see photos). Small cellotape mark top left front, and top right back (see photos). The inside gatefold is Ex + with no marks or writing at all. Original Harvest inner sleeve (with inner plastic anti static sleeve) shows signs of discolouration, and has a two inch split on the bottom edge, (no writing on it).
Labels
I would grade the labels as “Excellent”. No writing or marks, other than a few light spindle trails. Clean cut centre hole with no signs of wear. (see photos).
Vinyl
Matrix: Side 1 – “SHVL 795 A-1U” stamps 2 P
Side 2 – “SHVL 795 B-1U” stamps CV 1
This is from my own collection, bought new when first released, so only one owner. Play graded through Panasonic headphones before writing this.
Side 1. Excellent: Vinyl has a good shine to it and is very clean on both sides, see photos. Couple of light surface scratches. With the exception of one very light click which is almost inaudible, plays through fine with no jumps or pops.
Side 2. Excellent: Plays through fine with no jumps, clicks or pops. Couple of light surface scratches do not affect play.
Very few hairlines visible under Halogen lamp, consistent with removal from cover.
Minimal background crackle in quiet sections consistent with 41 year old vinyl. Excellent sound reproduction given the age of this record.
Overall, this is an excellent first pressing of some of Floyd`s finest music.
