Pino Minafra Cresce a Ruvo di Puglia ed entra nella scuola comunale di musica fondata e guidata dal maestro Antonio Amenduni e a 12 anni diventa corista nei "Pueros cantores" nella scuola ruvese "Santa Cecilia”. Entra nel conservatorio di musica Niccolò Piccinni a Bari e sotto la guida del maestro e premio oscar Nino Rota si avvicina alla tromba. Formatosi specialmente nel campo del jazz e dell'improvvisazione nel 1977 fonda il gruppo "Praxis" con altri importantissimi musicisti quali Roberto Ottaviano, Pippo Fumaroli. Nel 1983 i Praxis pubbliacon Cenerentola, disco apprezzatissimo dalla critica e dagli appassionati di Jazz.
