"PLEASE PLEASE ME"

THE BEATLES

..................

Label : Parlophone

Serial No. : PMC 1202

Year of first issue : 1963

Format : 12" - LP - Mono - 33 rpm

..............

I ENDED A PREVIOUS LISTING (NO 170864284275) THAT WAS THE SUBJECT OF THIS ITEM BECAUSE OF ERRORS IN THE LISTING - MY APOLOGIES TO ANY ONE WHO BID ON THE PREVIOUS AUCTION - NOTHING UNTOWARD - I JUST HAD A BAD DAY WHEN I MADE THE PREVIOUS LISTING - TO START AGAIN ...

This is a 1st pressing, with "Made in Great Britain" at the bottom of the Black & Gold Parlophone labels, "Dick James Mus. Co." publishing credits for all the "McCartney-Lennon" songs - a front laminated flip back outer sleeve with "Printed and Made by Ernest J Day & Co. Ltd. London"  and die cut polythene-lined 'Use 'Emitex' inner sleeve.

I draw your attention to the absence of KT tax code marks around the spindle holes. I also draw your attention to the stampers in the run out grooves on side one : "1" at 9 o'clock & "L" at 3 o'clock and on side two: "1" at 9 o'clock & "GG" at 3 o'clock - the matrix numbers are 'XEX 421-1N' on side 1 and 'XEX 422-1N' on side 2.  All the photographs here are from the LP which is the subject of the auction.

Condition

Vinyl : - very good - there are numerous surface marks and scratches to both sides which cause some clicking in places - it looks as though it might not play properly - however the sound quality is surprisingly good - there are no skips or jumps despite there being a long scratch on side 2 (tracks 1 and 2), which travels almost parallel to the grooves in places. I have test played this record, the deck adjusted to usual playing conditions - I cannot discern any deterioration in the sound quality such as would usually be associated with a record that has been overplayed - however if you disagree with my assessment please see my return policy - I accept returns but am not prepared to agree to discount the sale price. I have graded the vinyl as very good taking into account the combination of visual and audio assessments and the fact that the sound quality is much better than the visual assessement would suggest.

Labels : - both labels are in excellent condition - there is very slight spindle wear but surprisingly no discernible spindle marks; there are some light scuffs and small unobtrusive pressure marks but all the print is clear and bright and clearly legible.

Sleeve : - very good - light wear to corners and edges - front - some surface creases including a couple of small creases in the laminate tangential to the spine and a couple of longer creases across the top right hand corner one of which has caused a small score in the laminate above the 'm' in mono -there is some light wear to the opening edge and some discolouration caused by a moisture / liquid stain in the bottom right hand corner below the laminate - there is wear along a 2-3 inch stretch above 'THE BEATLES' along the top edge like a pressure mark which has made the laminate surface a bit rough with small punctures to the laminate between the serations; back - there is slight ring wear with associated discolouration particularly noticeable along the left hand side - there is some creasing to the flip backs, especially along the top edge, and a moisture / liquid stain to the bottom left hand corner - there is wear to the end of the flip back (bottom right corner) and slight laminate lift - the spine is clean, sound and intact with all print clearly visible but with a couple of light creases in the laminate toward's each end - otherwise the front and back are clean and bright - otherwise no tears, splits, writing, marks or other major imperfections.

The inner sleeve is in excellent condition with slight creasing and some slight wear and a few small tears to the top edges.
