THE CRITICS GROUP - 'Poetry And Song' 8 of a series of 14 vinyl LPs issued by Argo in 1967 on the blue eliptical label .The LPs were part of an anthology to be used in secondary schools (11 - 16 years), they were edited by James Gibson and recorded in association with MacMillan & Co. Ltd. They attempted to present poetry and song as an exciting adjunct to everyday language. The Critics Group had as soloists Frankie Armstrong, Brian Byrne, Helen Campbell, Ted Culver, John Faulkner, Sandra Kerr, Paul Lenihan, A.L.Lloyd, Tom Paley, Denis Turner and Terry Yarnell. Laurie Lee, Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger also appear. Folk music was arranged by Ewan MacColl, Peggy Seeger and directed by Charles Parker. I think I have identified 57 folk songs, mostly traditional and but some more recent, on these 8 LPs. The vinyls themselves are in excellent condition, the lack of spindle marks and sheen of the vinyl indicate little or no use. The sleeves are are NOT creased and are in EXCELLENT ++ condition. I would not normally offer an incomplete set like these but these are rarely offered so I have made an exception as here are some of the great folk singers of the 60s. Catalogue numbers are ZPL 1094 - 1101, all are stereo.

NEAR MINT audio inspection has revealed no scratches or scuffs on the playing surface. The record may have been played but is undamaged. The jacket will be clean and unmarked with only the slightest wear.
EXCELLENT audio inspection has revealed no sounding scratches on the playing surface, but there may be a few light crackles. The jacket might have slight wear and/or creasing or fading.
VERY GOOD audio inspection has revealed some light scratches and/or heavier scuffs - if these sound I will mention this in the listing. The jacket might have creasing or other defects which will be pointed out in the listing.
