Description

 Pollen

(self-titled / éponyme)

* Still Sealed *

KebecDisc  KD-908, 1976 original "swirl" issue (Canada)

* Rare first pressing, blue back cover *

This is the genuinely rare 1st issue with the completely different "blue" back cover and with credits to only "Les Editions Osmose" (the labels credit both "Les Editions Osmose" and "Les Editions Rose").

* Only a few hundred of these were pressed before Kebec-Disc re-issued the album with the much more common red back cover (featuring the band members and corrections to the credits).

* Already difficult-to-find in any condition, it'll be next to impossible to find another original sealed copy of this rarity *

Superb keyboard-driven symphonic prog......hints of Gabriel-era Genesis, Yes, Gentle Giant and especially Italian bands like Le Orme and Banco.......yet with a truly unique sound of their own.....More progressive than Harmonium or Octobre, yet less derivative than Morse Code.

The band recorded only a total of six songs during their short existance,  but Wow ! ...What progressive gems !

Tracks:

Le vieux corps de vie d’ange

L’étoile

L’indien

Tout l’temps  (Listen:  HERE)

Vivre la mort

La femme ailée

Jacques Tom Rivest (vocals, bass & acoustic guitar)....who released his own awesome prog LP a couple of years later,  Celine Dion's eventual "chef d'orchestre"  Claude Lemay (piano, synths, flute, vibraphone),  Richard Lemoyne (lead guitar, keyboards, bass),  Sylvain Coutu (drums, percussion), and arrangements by the great  Paul Baillargeon ("Viens Mon Amour" OST)

Prog Archives:  "Pollen's sole LP from 1976 may well be the best Prog Rock album to come out of Quebec in the '70s".

All Music Guide:   " These tracks are strong enough to stand among the very classics of the genre ".
