Polvo is an American indie noise rock band of the 1990s from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The band is fronted by guitarists/vocalists Ash Bowie and Dave Brylawski. Brian Quast plays drums, and Steve Popson plays bass guitar.

Polvo is widely considered to be standard bearer of a genre which came to be known as math rock[1], although in interviews the band disavowed that categorization[2]. Their sound was defined by complex and dissonant guitar harmonies and driving rhythm, complementing cryptic, often surrealist lyrics. Their sound was so unpredictable and angular that the band's guitarists were often accused of failing to play with correctly tuned guitars. Polvo's songs and artwork frequently featured Asian/"exotic" themes and references. The band's name means "octopus" in Portuguese and "powder" or "dust" in Spanish; in Spain it also is a slang word for sex.

NOTES: Test pressing with Rainbo Records labels on the both sides. Only signifying feature is "MRG-022" handwritten on the a-side (see photo). Comes in regular paper sleeve. No picture sleeve.
ORIGIN/PROVENANCE: My friend Corey Rusk, who runs Touch & Go Records (and formerly of The Necros), has been cleaning out his storage space and has realized that he really doesn't have any more room for the all doubles and triples of many of the rare records in his collection. He's busy running Touch and Go and doesn't have the time to deal with selling his extras... but they do need to go. So he asked me to help him sell them off. And of course, as a long time friend of Corey and and fan of Touch and Go Records (along with being a 10+ year eBay seller with a perfect feedback rating of 1700+), I jumped at the chance.

I ship records the way I like them shipped to me. Simple as that. If you live inside the US, shipping is only available by priority mail (due exclusively to less expensive service's unreliability) and tracking is provided free of charge. Outside of the US, airmail rates apply. IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE THE US, DO NOT PAY UNTIL I SEND YOU AN INVOICE! Insurance is ADDITIONAL and strongly recommended (especially if you live in Italy!).
