Originally issued in 1957, this Christmas album by the king, is one of the most enduring and now legendary holiday records of the 20th century. This reissue revives one of its most collectible presentations: the Japan-release artwork, long prized by collectors. The music itself is prime Elvis Presley at a transitional peak, balancing the swagger of early rock with a reverent, gospel-rooted warmth. Side-A leans into holiday cheer with a distinctly Elvis twist. 'Santa Claus Is Back in Town' opens with a bluesy strut while 'Blue Christmas' remains a cornerstone of seasonal melancholy, 'Santa Bring My Baby Back (To Me)' brings the Sun Records spark into festive territory. Side-B, however, provides the album's deeper legacy. Here, Presley turns sincerely toward sacred music like 'Peace in the Valley', 'Precious Lord' and 'I Believe'. These are delivered without irony and with his most controlled, heartfelt phrasing. This reissue restores both the recordings' warmth and the distinctive visual identity of a hard to grab version.
