WELCOME TO ANOTHER DR. VINYL AUCTION
THE PRETTY THINGS
's.f. sorrow' ( 100% original 1968 first pressing scx 6306)
Here you have the first ever rock opera, which is said to have inspired Pete Townsend to compose "Tommy". The Pretty Things are one of the greatest bands ever !! According to Vernon Joynson, author of "The Tapestry of Delights", a guide to British beat, R&B, psychedelic and progressive music from 1963-1976, The Pretties also inspired other bands like Jethro Tull. "Private Sorrow" sounds similar to compositions on their "Aqualung" album. Obviously the music on this album is of the highest calibre, made and played by one of the most creative and mysterious groups which have their origins in the '60s. The laminated gatefold, "flip-in" album cover is in SUPERBE EX+ condition. The disc is NEAR MINT . Many would grade MINT here but since I played the record myself 2 times I prefer to use N.MINT.
In the Netherlands this lp was quickly withdrawn after the release for unknown reasons. Only a handfull survived. Housed in the UK gatefold 1968 cover the Dutch combined the cover with a unique all black label Columbia record. MUCH MUCH harder to find than the UK MONO and STEREO pressing.
