I’ve been collecting records since 1958 and now it’s time to pass on some of these great sounds. Over the next weeks I will be listing lots of 45s, UK pop, psyche, rock n’roll and some very rare……all priced to sell…..no silly reserve price…
Two very rare slices of raw R&B/freakbeat from The Primitives….Changing their name from The Cornflakes to The Primitives indicated the group's brand of long- haired Pretty Things / Yarbirds / Stones-styled driving R&B. They signed to Pye in 1964. The Primitives' line-up consisted of lead vocalist Jay Roberts Geoff Eaton (aka Geoff Tindall) on lead guitar, John E. Soul (rhythm guitar, harmonica), RogerJames (bass) and Mike Wilding (drums)………..Released in January 1965 my research indicates Jimmy Page is on guitar.
The record is scuffed. Don’t bid if you want a mint one! But it plays well – the R&B cuts through fine.
