For Auction: PRINCE – “Controversy” Promotional Copy, cover marked with Gold Stamp: Loaned For Promotion Only – Sale Is Unlawful – Ownership Reserved By Warner Bros. Records Inc. Also includes a Hype Sticker: Provided With The Hope That You Will Use This For In-Store Play – Promotional Copy, Not For Re-Sale. This is the original first issue #BSK 3601, 1981 Warner Bros. Records Inc. Also included is an official WB Media Information 2-page typed bio of Prince with hype for his new record “Controversy.” The classic “dressed only in a black speedo” shower poster is also present, having never been unfolded in near mint condition.
Condition: Vinyl is in NM condition and never played by me. The record appears to have never been played at all. The cover is EX+ showing a couple of very small creases and some edge wear along the opening, hardly noticeable. The side 1 label shows a small area of bubbling on the left side of the WB logo with no tearing or discoloration. Otherwise the record is extremely clean. The 2-page Media Information shows wrinkles and evidence of being read a few times. Please review photos for condition verification.As a collector I’ve always subscribed to the fact that Promotional Only records are more rare and valuable than the standard releases. The simple truth is they produced the promotional items in far fewer numbers and in some cases the promo items are unique, increasing their value even more.
The item(s) in this auction were bought and collected by me when they were originally released. I am a long time fan of Prince and his protégés. Every item I am selling is original and NOT a re-issue, re-release, copy or bootleg. Almost every record I'm selling has never been played by me, but in the case of promotional items they may have been played by radio stations or by the person who owned them before me. The majority of my records are graded VG+ to NM, with a few in sealed Mint condition.

Shipping: For all open records, the vinyl is carefully removed from their outer covers, placed in new paper inner sleeves if needed, and then packaged for shipping outside their covers with cardboard between and packed in special shipping boxes designed specifically for shipping records.
