Original Italian private pressing on the Jii label (Jii 001), from 1974. Outstanding Italian jazz session housed in a DIY soft card gatefold sleeve with stenciled / spray paint artwork. The 1st release at this venue and far superior to any other Capolinea sessions (including Chet Baker et al). Features alternative fender rhodes jazz versions of the best themes from Giorgio Azzolini's legendary Spanish Portrait (Car Juke Box label session) including the brilliant SPANISH PORTRAIT and SUMMIT SOUL. Incredible, jazz funk and free progressive rhythms a la Strata East label / Marc Moulin Placebo etc with fender rhodes / soul-searching horns by Sergio Fanni and Sway Mad style hip hop beats and drum breaks by the Sante Palumbo Quintet on DIP and POP BLUES. For us, superior and funkier versions of his Jazz Alive In The Gallery session. Hard hitting piano trio / modern jazz sounds by the Mario Rusca Trio on  ERUZIONE / ET MAINTENANT by the Sergio Fanni Quartet and fender rhodes jazz by the Claudio Benedetti Sextet on BILLIE'S BOUNCE. This Lp is number 86 out of 1000 copies privately pressed up. Tullio De Piscopo was the funky drummer for Sante Palumbo with cult Italian jazz drummer Gianni Cazzola sitting in for Mario Rusca. Sante Palumbo is the man playing e-piano for the Giorgio Azzolini Quintet. Several other top musicians like Nando De Luca / Sergio Rigon / Larry Nocella and Giancarlo Pillot also feature on this recording. Shades of the fabulous Santucci Scoppa '70s jazz sound on here... Essential item for euro jazz collectors and DJs. Very rare Lp!!! Please note: this item is heavy so will count as 2 Lps for registered postage.

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Double vinyl in shiny, M- condition overall (the records look practically unplayed) with a couple of hairlines across all 4 sides. One, tiny pressing bump to middle of side 2. Light surface noises and also the odd soft pop in places but most probably due to the actual pressing. Wear mark to Jii logo on the label of side 2. The gatefold sleeve is in strong VG++ condition overall with light general wear. Dirt marks from storage / natural age discoloration. Original "Jii" jazz label stickers form part of the sleeve artwork. Original string and lead weight intact. Menu style inner sheet details the recording artists and compositions. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Very rare Lp!!!
