Description

PROCOL HARUM (Regal Zonophone LRZ 1001) Beautiful original copy of this 1967 classic debut album from Procol Harum in MONO (it was not recorded in stereo- the US Deram & A&M copies are "electronically reprocessed"). The group had scored earlier in 1967 with the mega-hit "Whiter Shade of Pale" & after some personnel reshuffling- keyboardist & singer Gary Brooker virtually reformed his former R&B band, the Paramounts, with Robin Trwoer on guitar, Matthew Fisher on Hammond organ, David Knights on bass & B.J. Wilson on drums. All the lyrics are composed by Keith Reid. 10 psychedelic prog rock classics- "Conquistador", "She Wandered Through the Garden Fence", "Something Following Me", "Mabel", "Cerdes", "A Christmas Camel", "Kaleidoscope", "Salad Days", "Good Captain Clack" & "Repent Walpurgis". Curiously, "A Whiter Shade of Pale" is not on the LP. 

Record (with pristine blue & gold labels) is MINT with no scratches. The laminated sleeve (with "fold-over flaps" on the back) is near MINT. The front & back covers looks fantastic while there is barely noticeable wear along the back edges. It looks like it has rarely been played!
