Description
I worked in several radio stations in the 70s as a 3rd Class Engineer which meant that I wasn't able to do much but manage the record library, receive new promo copies, audition records and add notes for the DJs about each one...not too bad of a gig. When the radio station would change format to say Country from Rock, distributors would still send Rock Promo copies for months even though the station wouldn't play them. Station management realized they didn't have to pay me meager wages as I would accept records in trade...so ta da, my DJ record selection. I use Goldmine grading standards rating the condition of each record and made notes of any writing or other significant condition comments.
This set of ABBA 45s include (I noted whether the record was marked Promo or not):
- Ring, Ring; mono & stereo versions; one of the harder DJ copies to obtain; not marked promo but the same song & one white label are confirmations that this is a radio station copy; some DJ writing on 1 side; looks like it received little airtime; Excellent
- SOS; my favorite ABBA tune; stereo & mono versions; marked "Promotion Copy"; VG+
- Does Your Mother Know/ Kisses of Fire; Not marked Promo; Nice Picture Sleeve; record Excellent;
- Dancing Queen/ That's Me; 3 copies; NOT marked Promo; very light wear on record surface might be audible no writing on labels but 1 copy has light ring wear;
- Winner Takes All; Elaine; several light scratches might be audible; light writing on label
- Waterloo/Watch Out; Not marked Promo; sticker on label, record surface has light-medium scratches that might be audible
