PRUDY : Zvonky zvonte/Supraphon 1969/ SLOVAKIA, the most fantastic beat/fuzzy gtr. album in the East Europe
orig.album/ was pressed on Supraphon / quickly withdrawn/,and is impossible to find !This is a mega rare MONO LP.
PRUDY s Zvonky zvonte was the Slovak response to Sgt.Pepper,an album full of charming pop songs, harmonz
vocals, lush orchestration and a hint of psychedelia>The best songs were written by Marian Varga, who soon
went on to form Collegium Musicum>His characteristic keyboard ornaments are already recognisdable at this
early stage. This is the most fantastic beat/fuzzy gtr. album in the East Europe!Original vinyl LP was quickly
withdrawn/ due to rights problems/ and is impossible to find
JAKARTA JIVE>Apparently recently voted the best LP to ever come out of Slovakia - despite the fact it was
recorded way back in the old Czechoslovakian days - this is a real Eastern European post-Pepper peculiarity.
Nothing on it really touches the title track, which kicks off the first side - all zooming '66 McCartney basslines,
soaring harmonies and killer choruses that you probably haven't got a clue about - though the LPs closer, 'Cierna
Ruza' comes pretty dang close in the pop-sike classic stakes! Could easily fit onto the Rubble series without
anyone batting a false eyelash!
I'm also very partial to Side 2's opener - "Pod So Minou" - strangely reminscent of some of the Mutantes style
Tropicalia: starts with a monster fuzz riff, but scampers off into weird little piano segues, church bells and pop
hooks a-plenty. The angelic choir on half a tab of acid chorus at the end of 'Pred Vykladom Hrackami', where
what's been basically an average beat track fractures into a messy one-note solo also do it for me too. 'Mozno, Ze
Ma Rada Mas' is yet more slightly Mutantes-alike stuff . . . alternating between quiet string-led xylophone breaks
and 'ba-ba-ba' choruses in classic soft / loud style, but all with a weirdly Eastern vibe that brings to mind snow
and churches and Christmas and choirs, all off in the distance, outside the window, beyond the smoky haze.
FANTASTIC MINT/NEAR MINT CONDITION.-Imposssible to find!
NOTE:This is incredibly rare "gatefold cover"-More photos on request!
