Description

This is a EX / VG+ copy of this UK RIVATE PRESSING VINYL LP by SILVER BIRCH - "SILVER BIRCH" - released on BRAYFORD RECORDS (LINCOLN) - BR/02 in 1974. This Grimsby folk band, originally known as THE FORESTRY COMMISSION, released this one LP and it is much sought after, the Record Collector price guide reconning it (by value - £240) to be one of the hardest to find UK folk LP's - but that is most probably right if you consider most of the copues would have been sold locally! Anyway, what we have here is a strong four part harmony group, two girls and two boys, obviously influenced by what Fairports had been up to since 1969 (they cover R.Thompson's "CRAZY MAN MICHAEL") and it all sounds rather fine. The laminated front sleeve looks fine as you can see (just one small laminate crease on the left hand bottom corner) and the spine is fine and strong - there is no printing on the spine by the way! The white card rear is fine, but this copy has been played and as you would imagine, the back shows a little sign of handling, but it still looks fine. the disc has been played, but carefully. There are visible spindle marks around the centre hole, but the labels are in fine shape generally. The record plays well, but there are visible surface marks. There is some noise, and this means I can only grade it as VG. It is a record that if you have been looking for a copy for ages, these slight imperfections will not spoil your enjoyment of owning one of the hardest to find UK folk LPs - oh! and this copy is signed by four members including the girls of who Jayne Clark writes "kin ell - Jayne" Nice one Jayne!
