Description

This is a very ltd. reissue of the megarare lp by the US psych folk prog band The Seventh Dawn, “Sunrise”. Originally released in 1976 as a privately pressed edition of 200, this lp was actually a project for an electronic music class that the 4 band members attended while at Virginia Commonwealth University. The lp draws on material written and recorded from 1970-1976 and runs the gamut from Pentangle/Trees style gentle folkpsych with fantastic female vocals, to psychedelic progressive rock with fuzz guitar and layered keyboards, at times recalling early King Crimson/Moody Blues. Instrumental lineup is drums, bass, electric and acoustic guitar, keyboards (piano, organ, synth), male and female vocals. Stunning lp of subtle power and emotion and a personal favorite. This a legit reissue done with the permission, cooperation, and participation of the original band members, and is a limited hand numbered edition of 25 numbered copies. This is copy #6. There is a more common reissue of this lp with reproduced cover slicks in a limited edition of 275 numbered copies. What few collectors know is that there was also a very limited run of 25 using the original slicks and inserts that the band had left over from the original pressings. That is what you are bidding on here. Beautiful package and a must addition to any psych collection. Originals of this lp are incredibly rare and to my knowledge, none have ever been offered for sale. This is likely to be as close to an original as one can get.
