Description

This is an EX / EX copy of this RARE and MUCH SOUGHT AFTER, 1st PRESSING VINYL DUTCH LP by SANDY COAST - "FROM THE STEREO WORKSHOP" - released on RELAX Records 31.631. This is a great LP by Dutch Band SANDY COAST (as is their other LP "SHIPWRECKED"). This is a first DUTCH pressing and interestingly there are a couple of interesting dfferences from the ULTRA RARE UK version on PAGE ONE Records. Firstly the cover shot is exactly the same, but the UK edition has the albuim title in 'Rubber Soul' style lettering in the dark space to the right of the picture. Also the labels tell us this album is called "FROM THE WORKSHOP", the word "STEREO" having been left out! So a couple of nice differences for all you completests out there. The sleeve is a good EX with only some tiny areas of colour loss at the top of the sleeve and some small creases in the laminate worth reporting. Oh, and there is also one crease near the spine. However, none of this takes anything away from this great 60's sleeve. The spine is strong and would be fully readable, except there is nothing to read on this Dutch copy - it's blank - yup! Another difference from the UK version! The vinyl is in great shape and plays brilliantly with only the lightest of noise in the usual quiet bits! The vinyl is clean and shiny and only a few light withdrawl marks stop it being perfect. As for the music, if you have never heard Sandy Coast, you are in for a real treat. From the great blues opening of "DEPRESSION" and the wonderful 'quality' POP of "MY EMPTY WORLD" (with it's lavish string laden production), to PROG. classics like "CAPITAL PUNISHMENT" & "MY FRIEND ABDULLAH", this is a great LP, wonderful songs, sang in English and played by a really great group! Wish I'd seen 'em live! ESSENTIAL P.S. on the songwriting, on "SHIPWRECKED" SANDY COAST gave us what must have been the first song written against the fur trade, excellently covered on another Page One rarity by THE NIGHT PEOPLE - "PM". Before you die, find both of those LPs! Also ESSENTIAL !
