La Orquesta Puerto Rican Power la fundó el bajista y primer director, Jesús "Chuy" Castro, a principio de los años 70. Sus primeras grabaciones fueron bajo el Sello GEMA. Y para el año 1973, Chuy, disuelve la orquesta.
