PUGH'S PLACE, CHILDREN OF JUBAL & RICK AND DAVE "Child In Time Live!" LP Original Dutch pressing on the Universe label from 1972.  The record is in VG+ condition and the textured sleeve is in EX condition.

[isdntekvideo] SKULL-CRUSHING heavy prog psych JAMS on this one, from the Dutch underground circa 1972, with some much-needed respites of trippy floaty leftover hippie mystical jams between.  The cover's misleading, as it states "played by the group LIVE" - there are no groups named LIVE on here, and this was still decades before Ed Kowalczyk's band.  Side 1 features just 2 tracks, both by Pugh's Place (and recorded live during their farewell concert at Amsterdam's Paradiso), a storming crunching Diplodocus-in-heat take on the Beatles' "Every Little Thing" that uses Yes's cover for reference - and features some AMAZING guitar pyrotechnics - and an 11:30 take on Deep Purple's "Child in Time" - which is only fair since Deep Purple weren't exactly known for their in-concert brevity either.  Side 2 gives us some trippy mystical Pink Floyd stoner jams courtesy of the aptly-named Children of Jubal.  And don't rule out Rick and Dave due to their crappy soul club band name (no, they don't cover "Soul Man"), their "Song of a  Wobsal at the Pow-Wow" (now there's a title for the ages) is a very freakish little synth instrumental that's got its hogweed-covered feet firmly planted in Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot-era Genesis.  They were American boys, says the liners, living in Friesland, an "an album by them will soon be released on Universe records."  Yeah, okay, don't hold yer breath on that one, boys.  This remains their sole recorded legacy, and the same goes for Children of Jubal.  And it comes along as often as a comedy gig for Carol Leifer.  Grab it while you can!
