Description
Here is an ultra-rare NWOBHM 45 by PULSE called Too Late / Two Broken Hearts. It was self-released on the band’s own label, catalogue number PUL 001. There's no date on the label but I'm guessing early '80s?
Pulse were from the north-east of England and this was produced ( I believe) by Mond Cowie from north-east Punk band Angelic Upstarts. I got it from a cousin of one of the band members.
Both tracks are excellent. I was very, very pleasantly surprised by them. They are both up-tempo guitar driven tracks but with keyboards and they lean towards the more melodic side of NWOBHM rather than the ‘thrashier’ side. Definitely a bit of an undiscovered gem…
The production and arrangement are both very, very good and it doesn’t sound like a ‘local’ band; rather, it has a more ‘American’ feel to it. If you are into this kind of thing I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Please read the description and look at the photos. This should give a comprehensive indication of the condition of the item. I try not to over-grade. There’s nothing to hide; see my feedback.
The vinyl is clean with only one or two very small and insignificant marks. It played perfectly. The labels are clean too. See the photos; there’s nothing to hide.
I aim to be honest and accurate about the items I sell. When I consider it appropriate, the item will be play tested prior to being listed. I will also play test on request and post a review in the listing. In some cases I may even have a sound file available but this will only usually be for rare and high-value items.
I provide a full, no-questions-asked, money-back guarantee on all items I sell. If you aren't satisfied with the item for any reason I will refund your money when I receive the item back in the condition in which it was posted to the buyer.
I photograph everything after packing and before posting so no-one can claim I mailed it smashed, bent, warped or otherwise damaged.
If you have any questions about this item, just ask. I try to be helpful. Thank you.
ITEMS FOR DELIVERY IN THE UK WILL ONLY BE SENT BY FIRST CLASS SIGNED-FOR MAIL. ITEMS SENT OVERSEAS WILL ONLY BE SENT BY INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR OR AIRSURE.
All items are sent properly and strongly packaged in a mailer with a protective outer plastic sleeve, corrugated inner stiffeners, and a paper inner sleeve.
Postage and Packing costs are comprised of the EXACT cost the Post Office charges me, plus a SMALL packing cost, which is ALWAYS less than I pay to buy the packing. I pack as well as possible, sometimes better than that. I’ve had vinyl arrive from eBay sellers that’s been wrapped in brown paper and that’s it! And charged a small fortune for P &P for the privilege…
Please bear this in mind when ‘voting’ on my P & P costs. If you’re in the UK you can hardly complain about an item’s P & P charges after this year’s large price increases for postage. Packing costs me a MINIMUM of £1 per item; buyers pay only a small part of that cost. It would be MUCH higher if I charged packing at cost, never mind if I also tried to profit from it, as many do…
ONCE AN ITEM HAS BEEN POSTED (AND I ALWAYS OBTAIN PROOF OF POSTING) IT IS NO LONGER MY RESPONSIBILITY! IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT SAFE DELIVERY OF AN ITEM THAT YOU WIN THEN I SUGGEST THAT YOU PAY FOR A SIGNED-FOR SERVICE. I WILL NOT AND CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS WHICH DO NOT ARRIVE AT THEIR DESTINATION ONCE THEY HAVE BEEN POSTED!
UK First Class ‘Signed For’ = £2.50
‘Signed For’ is to protect YOU as a buyer and ME as a seller so I can confirm whether the record has arrived and so you can track its progress.
Europe by Airmail (either Signed For or Airsure = £3.50 (BUT SEE BELOW!)
Rest of the World by Airmail = £4.75 (BUT SEE BELOW!)
(e.g. USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or anywhere that is NOT UK or Europe)
I reserve the right to insist that an item is posted using either the ‘International Signed-For’ service or the ‘Airsure’ service to Europe or Rest of World and paid for by the buyer accordingly.
‘International Signed-For’ will usually apply if, for example, the item has sold for a sum above £25; or if the buyer has a low or dubious feedback score; or if the buyer is in a country which has, in my experience and that of others I know, a poor record of safe postal delivery (e.g. Brazil, Russia to name a few). I DO NOT POST TO ITALY!
‘International Signed-For’ costs an extra £5.15 IN ADDITION to the standard airmail costs shown above. Please note also that if the item sells for more than £50 there is an EXTRA £2.60 to add for insurance. These are NOT my charges; they are the prices charged by the Post Office. See:
http://www.royalmail.com/delivery/delivery-options-international/international-signed
It may apply in other circumstances too and at my discretion.
Depending on your country and the final sale price of the item, I may insist that the Airsure service is used instead.
For applicable non-EU destinations, Airsure costs £5.40 plus the standard airmail costs shown above. If the item sells for more than £50 there is also an EXTRA £2.60 to add for insurance. It is a fully-tracked service.
For applicable EU destinations, please contact me for a price or go to: http://www.royalmail.com/delivery/delivery-options-international/airsure/prices
Please note that Airsure postage in the EU also incurs a tax of 20%. This is a government tax and is unavoidable!
THESE ARE NOT MY CHARGES. THEY ARE THE PRICES CHARGED BY THE POST OFFICE IN THE U.K.
IF YOU ARE THE WINNING BIDDER AND YOU WANT FEEDBACK LEFT FOR YOU THEN PLEASE HAVE THE COURTESY TO LEAVE IT FOR ME FIRST. I WILL THEN LEAVE IT FOR YOU.
By bidding on this item you are taken to have read and agreed to all of the above.

What looks like a mark on the vinyl at about the 5 o' clock position is actually the reflection of my camera strap; it is NOT a mark on the record. Just sur yer knurr like...
OK. Here's a bit of an update on this. I've played it a few times and made sound files of both sides. If anyone wants to hear it and would like me to email a file to them, just ask. There is a little bit of 'crackle' on the run-in on both sides. Also side B starts with a short, very quiet keyboard passage (before rocking out!) and some background is evident during this short intro. Having said that, I had it turned up loud to record it on to my DVR today. This was an independently produced and released record; I think it's reasonable to expect a little crackle...otherwise, it plays fine.
However, and I'm not just saying this to get a sale, this is an excellent record! Great keyboard and guitar solos on side A; great guitar on side B. Very, very melodic and tuneful, with a singer who can sing, it deserves to be better known. Once you hear this you won't be able to get it out of your head...
Does anyone know anything about this band? I can't find owt on the net, despite it being produced by Mond (of The Upstarts, I believe). Any info is welcome. Cheers!
And finally...both tracks are almost 5 minutes long so there are nearly ten minutes of music on two sides. What a bargain and literally NWOBHM-TASTIC!
