Description

You are viewing the following listing:

Artist: The Ruts

Format: 7” paper die-cut sleeve only (no vinyl included)

The Ruts (later known as The Ruts D.C.) are an English reggae-influenced punk rock band, notable for the 1979 UK top 10 hit single "Babylon's Burning", and an earlier single "In a Rut", which was not a hit but was highly regarded and regularly played by BBC Radio 1 disc jockey John Peel. The band's newfound success was cut short by the death of lead singer Malcolm Owen from a heroin overdose in 1980.

The Ruts officially formed in August 1977 in Southall, London, England. The band's "classic" line-up consisted of singer Malcolm Owen, guitarist Paul Fox, bassist John "Segs" Jennings, and drummer Dave Ruffy. The band played their first live performance in Middlesex on 16 September 1977.

This die-cut sleeve is fully signed by the short-lived line up of this classic band including singer Malcolm Owen and is super-rare on this basis. Signatures included are:

·        Malcolm Owen (singer): Malcom has signed his full name in a medium thickness blue biro-style pen and is graded 8/10 for ink coverage and definition.

·        John ‘Segs’ Jennings (bass): Joh has signed ‘Segs’ in a medium thickness blue biro-style pen and is graded 8/10 for ink coverage and definition.

·        Dave Ruffy (drums): Dave has signed his full name in a medium thickness blue biro-style pen and is graded 7/10 for ink coverage and definition. (Tiny amount of ink loss).

·        Paul Fox (guitar): Paul has signed his full name in a medium thickness blue biro-style pen and is graded 7/10 for ink coverage and definition. (Tiny amount of ink loss).

This is a super rare set of signatures that due to the short-lived status of the classic line up of the band with singer Malcom Owen, rarely if ever, come up for sale!

Condition: this item is just a plain white delicate paper die-cut sleeve. The sleeve has minor creases, moderate age yellowing and minimal grubbiness, and is graded very good plus (+) condition.
