Description

Purple Smoke -- Vol. 1 LP

Original 1969 US private pressing on Mark Records (catalog # MC-1446, TEST PRESSING with blank cream-colored labels, on one label is written "PURPLE SMOKE TEST PRESSING / MC 1446 7-8", run-out grooves say "MC 1446-1" & "MC 1446-2").

Ungodly RARE private press garage psych with femme vocals. Stoned bar band plays a weird combination of psychedelic rock and loungey cover tunes (Stoned Soul Picnic, Evil Ways, Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?, etc) with the requisite long drum solo.

This is an even scarcer test pressing on Mark Records, a spin-off of Century Custom Records. I think Purple Smoke was from Western Mass, the otherwise plain sleeve has an address in Holyoke, Mass. A unique piece of late-sixties US underground psychedelia.

CONDITION: / Vinyl VG++   vinyl is excellent, no scratches, some light wear and slight scuffing, plays well.

Graded conservatively using Goldmine standards [G / G+ / VG / VG+ / NM / ]
grade only used if record is brand new.

All records are packaged securely, protected by both stiff and cushion packaging, with vinyl (in original innersleeve) removed from cover and placed safely in poly sleeve to help prevent seam splitting during transit.
