Jon Spencer and the group cover the classic Rolling Stones album and give it justice - PUNK ROCK STYLE!!  AMAZING!

Pussy Galore's "Exile" is an amazing pastiche of feedback, tape loops, and sludge that keeps the songs instantly recognizable while completely subverting them. They have no problems with the tough rockers "Rocks Off", "Rip This Joint" or "Let it Loose", all of which rival the Stones in sleaze and overcome them with power. "Turd on the Run" is surprisingly straight forward, stripped covers while "Casino Boogie"'s sax solos are replaced with pure noise, "I Just Want to See His Face" is the most spacey. Spencer's snarl really shines on "Hip Shake", with the guitars created a great  Hooker/Harpo toe-tap boogie that surpasses the Stones's cover and Caftiz's vocal turn on "Sweet Virginia" is a pleasant respite. The two best tracks however are "Happy", which roars, breaks down, and then returns with a vengeance even though Hagerty has only mastered the riff enough to play it once correctly and the breathtaking "Let It Loose". On the later, Spencer seems almost vulnerable and hurt as the guitar lonely repeats beneath him. The vocal disappears all together in favor of startling noise and samples of the original's voodoo gospel singers until Spencer begs us again to let it "all come down".
If you haven't found this album, and it's easier than you think, find it now. Of course it's impossible to tell what was purposeful and what are the errors on the aging cassettes the tracks have been ripped from but it doesn't matter.

 This record is very great and needed!!  Pussy Galore was on the first brainchild of soulbrother Jon Spencer - before he formed JSBX!  One of the greatest rock band to come out of the US in the last 20 years!  - Classic NY punk!
