Martin Jenkins picks up precisely where Let's Emerge! left off with his new LP. More Songs About The Sun is bigger, bolder and acid-bright with saturated analogue electronics and motorik rhythms worked through a Stereolab, Spacemen 3 and Harmonia lens. But the groves are more direct and immediate than anything in his back catalogue and opener 'Euphoria' establishes that straight off. Andy Bell of Ride contributes shimmer and psych-guitar warmth across several tracks and vocals appear throughout, including a remarkable spoken-word contribution from Scottish crime writer Ian Rankin on The Breath Of Now, which is a cloud of dystopian darkness that only makes the surrounding sunshine feel all the more real.
