When Little Rock, Arkansas doom metal band PALLBEARER released their 2012 debut album “Sorrow and Extinction” after already creating waves within the scene with their 2010 demo, they would help signal a paradigm shift and set a new standard within the doom metal genre. “Sorrow and Extinction” became one of the most acclaimed metal releases of 2012 that also saw the band become active on the live front by playing live regularly along with playing several notable festivals (Roadburn, Hellfest, Maryland Deathfest, Heavy Montreal etc.).
The band would continue to build their momentum with their 2014 sophomore release “Foundations of Burden”. With their second LP the band would raise the bar in musical progression and songwriting. This not only saw “Foundations of Burden” become one of the most celebrated metal albums of said year of release but it also saw a new turning point for the band where the four-piece saw new opportunities come their way, embarking on even more extensive touring and playing even more notable festivals during the “Foundations of Burden” cycle.
With their third full-length album “Heartless”, set for release on March 24th 2017, PALLBEARER have created their most crucial and powerful album yet. A natural progression from its predecessor, “Heartless” sees the band expanding their sound even further by harnessing classic traditional metal and the classic prog aesthetic even more while still staying true to the essence of their signature sound. Likewise, “Heartless” also sees PALLBEARER creating some of their heaviest moments to date as well.
A sonic monolith to behold, “Heartless” embraces a bigger production and sound than the previous LPs. It sees PALLBEARER at their creative peak on every level. “Heartless” was tracked and recorded direct to analog at Fellowship Sound Studios in their hometown, mixed by producer Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens Of The Stone Age, Soundgarden), and mastered by Dave Collins (Metallica, John Williams, Danny Elfman).
