Rare Original 1st press UK 45" released in 1959 on the Black & Silver London Records Label. Cat: HLM 8998. Comes with original London Paper sleeve which is in Excellent condition. Mod, soul classic.
Paul Gayten, a seminal figure in New Orleans rhythm & blues, led a varied career in the music business as a bandleader, producer, label owner, and one-time overseer of the West Coast operation of Chess Records. A nephew of blues-piano legend Little Brother Montgomery, Gayten once led one of the top bands of New Orleans, but he gave up the performing life in 1956 to turn his attention to production and eventually to his own California-based Pzazz label (which featured Louis Jordan, among others). Gayten wrote Larry Darnell's 1949 classic "For You My Love" and recorded a few Top Ten hits of his own for Regal and DeLuxe (1947-1950), some of them with vocalist Annie Laurie.
These singles are part of a lovely collection of original English 45's brought to Australia over 30 years ago when an English couple migrated to Australia. An avid music fan this gentleman followed many of the bands in the day from the late 50's through the 60's seeing everyone from the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Animals, Yardbirds, Bo Diddley, Gene Vincent just to name a few. These singles are a great representation of his passion for rock N roll and the many artists who were playing at the time. Most of them are still with original record company paper sleeves and are all in amazing condition considering they are over 50 years old!! I look forward to listening and listing them for you over the next month...
Tracks : The hunch/ Hot cross buns. Both labels are clean of marks, sticker stains or tears. Record is in stunning condition with only a few tiny scuff marks. Record plays in Near Mint condition.Payment is accepted by Credit Card or Paypal. Within Australia we prefer Direct deposit transfer.
