Paul Gayten, "You Better Believe It" b/w "Mother Roux" (Checker Records) Here's a rare and killer ORIGINAL 45 of 2 classic New Orleans R&B gems from the golden era. The vinyl looks VG+ on "You Better Believe It", but actually plays Mint-minus. The slow grind instrumental "Mother Roux" is another story -- it's pretty rough, with lots of noise, but thankfully no skips. G-minus. The labels are VG+/VG. Play-graded. Strict grading. Despite its noted flaws, a mighty fine and mighty scarce 45, with two terrific tracks!
