Description

Paul Jeffrey - Electrifying Sounds - Savoy RARE LP!!! VG/VG
This is an item that is highly sought after from the Savoy catalogue. Paul Jeffrey is a tenor saxophone player, composer, and leader on this, his only release on LP. Very rare. Very unique. His rhythm section is truly right up there with Bill Evans, Paul Bley, and the interaction between the piano & bass is right is just so solid and so on. The drummer grew up with Tina Brooks and this is a sadly overlooked LP never released to CD.
Jeffrey plays at times using a Gibson Maestro attachment, not for an amplifier, but for widening pitch range and for producing an octave unison line on a single instrument.  He is sparing with the use of this and it is not for a gimmick in this case it truly adds something special to the composition. There are songs when it is not used at all, such as the ballad & only composition not written by jeffrey,  "I'll Hang My Tears Out To Dry" where his tone is free from electronic aid and his own clear voice, as cool as Lester, floating on a slow nostalgic tide, caressing the harmonic shores.
The cover has been repaired from someone who put Duck Tape on every seam!!!
It was removed and left a sticky residue which was covered with clear packing tape and there are two stickers which are actually under the tape
( SEE IMAGE )
The LP has marks but is not in terrible shape. It is graded VG+ for side A. As for side B, there are only minor, little, and light scratches and a series of scuffs that you cannot feel on and do not effect playback. This is not a solid VG+ record but it is a very rare and very enjoyable to listen to. some pops and some minor surface noise may be present, but not throughout, and not overcome the music, which is a rare treat to have the opportunity to hear.
You deserve this in your jazz collection and you will not be afraid to pit it on your turntable upon visual inspection and will more than likely be more relieved than anything at the actual condition.
The cover has good color and the tape is it's only real  issue but it is for you to judge....it doesn't bother me as when you consider the rarity if the music. It's a good copy to hold u until u find a solid VG+ if you are lucky to find one at all.
I cannot recommend this record more highly and feel comfortable, you will be able to enjoy listening to this copy.
No hidden reserve has been placed on this auction & a low starting bid...
Make this one yours you may not see another LP of this one in any condition again for some time.
