Sir Paul McCartney was commissioned to write this 75 minute symphonic poem in honor of the 100th Anniversary of EMI. The London Symphony Orchestra performed STANDING STONE both for the recording and for a live performance on October 14th, 1997. At the time of the performance, the album had already reached the #1 position on the Classical charts here in the USA. This was issued on September 23, 1997.
