Original Year of Release: 26th March 1976 Rarity: Very Rare especially so having a Factory Sample NOT FOR SALE sticker and being in this Superb Whole and Complete condition, with the correct Inner Sleeve that has a Drawing of some People outside a Club looking in at a Photograph of the Band playing Live and a Black and White Photo Montage to the Rear. These Factory Sample stickers were put on around 500 of the 1st Pressings on Albums and Singles and were given to EMI Executives, D J's, Radio Stations and Major Record Outlets and Major Record Outlets. These were NOT for sale to members of the public. This Also has 5U end Matrix Numbers which is the EARLIEST Pressing of this Album.
PLEASE NOTE: There seems to be a fair amount of Controversy regarding Factory Sample stickers. All I really know about them is that in the early 60's they used a Tapered Edged sticker and these were Replaced in late 69 to a Squarish Edged type. Sadly during the Early years of my Collecting I actually bought a couple that were Incorrect. From that Moment on I decided to use only Reputable sellers to purchase any more.
I can ASSURE you that these ARE the correct Factory Sample stickers attached to these Labels. I Purchased this and Many other from the Reputable Ted Edwards a Well known Beatles Collector.

 Brief Artist & Album Info: "Wings At The Speed OF Sound" is the fifth studio album by Wings, released on 25 March 1976 as a follow-up to their previous album "Venus And Mars". Issued at the height of the band's popularity, it reached the top spot on the US album chart and peaked at number 2 on the UK album chart. Both singles from the album also reached the top 5 of the UK and US singles charts, with 'Silly Love Songs' reaching number 1 in the US.

The album was recorded and released in the midst of Wings highly successful Wings Over the World tour, with songs from the album performed on the tour after its release. Subsequently, performances of "Let 'Em I"', "Silly Love Songs" and "Beware My Love" were included on the live album "Wings Over America", released in December 1976.

As a reaction to critics who believed Wings was merely a vehicle for Paul McCartney, the album featured every member of the band taking lead vocals on at least one song, and two songs from the album are written or co-written by band members other than the McCartneys.

The album was recorded at Abbey Road in two different sessions: first sessions took place in August/September and October 1975, with work resuming in January–February 1976. During the playback of "Must Do Something About It", Paul heard drummer Joe English sing the song and decided to have him take the lead vocal. In "Cook of the House", McCartney handled double-bass, while "Silly Love Songs" was arranged in a disco-style, in a similar fashion to Al Green's "Sha La La".

CONDITION

Labels: The Black and White With Silver and Red printing Apple Labels are Both in Superb condition with no signs of Spindle Wear and Only a couple of light Spider Marks. There is no Writing, Label Lifts, Tears, Splits or Marks anywhere. I have gone over these Labels Several times and I Genuinely CANNOT find any Faults. They are absolutely Stunning. The All important Factory Sample sticker is Attached to Side 1:. I have No hesitation in grading these as Excellent ++!!!!

Vinyl: Plays throughout absolutely Brilliant with no Pops, Clicks or Jumps. The record still Retains  that glossy sheen though there are some Very minimal surface marks and thumbnails to be seen. These in NO way interfere with the Superb sound quality. This Album plays up to and  beyond its high visual grading with Nothing to fault. It offers strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear – sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. A typical polished production from Paul McCartney. Minimal surface sound and no tracking issues. This play-grade proved a real pleasure when playing this fast disappearing Apple album, this being the first example I have had for some time, and possibly the Best all-round one for me yet. It will prove quite Difficult to find a Better copy and merits a Very strong recommendation. I would grade Both sides Excellent +!!!!

Cover/Sleeve:  The swift assembly of Wings At The Speed Of Sound extended to the cover artwork. Designed by Hipgnosis and George Hardie, who worked so successfully on Venus And Mars, it had no gatefold sleeve, lyrics or other extras. The front photograph was of lettering on the marquee in front of the Leicester Square Theatre in London. At the time it was taken the cinema inside was showing The Return Of The Pink Panther starring Peter Sellers. The rear cover photographs, featuring montages of the Wings band members, were taken by Clive Arrowsmith, and images by Linda McCartney appeared on the inner sleeve and the label. A drawing by Humphrey Ocean surrounded a live photograph of Wings in concert taken by Robert Ellis. What a fantastic front picture. It still retains a fine Shape and Clarity without Any dulling. There are no Rips, Tears, Marks or Writing to be seen. The Spine is in Perfect order and All of the other Edges are in Perfect order, with even the Opening Edge straight and Unfrayed. The Reverse of the Cover is again in Perfect order with no Marks or Blemishes anywhere. have gone over this cover Minutely and I really Cannot find Hardly any fault with it. I have no Hesitation in grading this as Excellent ++!!!! It Truly is that Good.

Cover/Sleeve Summary: Not seen often, this one is in Beautiful condition with only gentle clues of age, any blemishes mostly light are incredibly hard to avoid at the barest minimum. This classic cover should (As described) please many collectors.

Inner Sleeve: These Are the Correct Inners to this Album and again Both are Faultless so I will grade them as Excellent +!!!!

Album Played For Grading: I play/grade ALL records I offer before submitting, I also play them in their entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness. I play from the beginning to end. I use a Linn LP12 Sondek turntable with Ittok Mk II arm and Ortofon Quintet Black moving coil cartridge and Linn Lingo, with my Linn system and Forest Totem Speakers. This system is guaranteed  to pick up any distortion or interference within the sound.

Grading: In my opinion I REFUSE to believe there is ANY record that can be truly graded as Mint, the BEST that could be offered is Mint- (minus)!!!! Especially so from the 50's, 60's, 70's or even up to the present date!!!! Even copies bought new today would have some form of imperfection on the Record or Cover!!!! Under that assumption I will NEVER use the word Mint in any of my descriptions and Mint- is the HIGHEST grade I would ever offer. So I will only GRADE from Mint-, Excellent, Good or Poor with a -(minus), +(plus) or ++(plus,plus)!!!!
