Paul McCartney & Wings – Band on the Run – 1973 – Generally regarded as McCartney’s best post-Beatles album. Released late in 1973, it became the biggest selling album of 1974. While McCartney had always retained his audience, this record also achieved critical acclaim. McCartney tried to make Wings into a band in its own right, but essentially the band was a vehicle to back Paul, as it should have been. The record rocks and has plenty of McCartney’s signature melodies and well-crafted songs. The title track and Jet set the scene and from that start, there is not a dull moment.
