Description
Turandot by Puccini starring Luciano Pavarotti and Dame Joan Sutherland. The first 3 LP boxed edition issued by London Records in 1973. The cover of inlaid book/libretto was autographed by both Pavarotti and Sutherland in 1973 when they appeared in a record shop near Grant Avenue in San Francisco to sign albums. The black ink has morphed to red after 50 years, but still totally clear and legible. In 1973, Pavarotti and Sutherland were appearing together at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco. Both were at the peaks of their careers. The waiting line for autographs was long but well worth it--they were both glamorous and charming and having a grand time with all of their fans eager to see them. This is a rare piece of opera memorabilia with autographis by two of the greatest opera stars. We are downsizing and I'd like these records/autographs to be enjoyed by a new generation.
