This is not a remaster, but the original release. This release is a gatefold-sleeve with artwork on the vinyl covers and a book all in pristine condition. The album has been certified five times platinum by the RIAA in the United States. Conatins the huge hit "Better Man".

Recorded at Ann and Nancy Wilsons' Bad Animals studio in Seattle, this was Dave Abbruzzese's last album with the band.

Pearl Jam’s third album 'Vitalogy', perhaps more than any other recording of the era, is key to understanding the climate, ethos and eventual implosion of the Seattle grunge scene of the 1990’s. Recorded when Pearl Jam were at the height of their fame, and amid the media circus surrounding the suicide of their contemporary Kurt Cobain, this is an angry, despondent and tormented record, and perhaps one of the darkest albums to ever reach multi-platinum status.

In many ways, Eddie Vedder and Kurt Cobain were, at the time, on parallel trajectories. Both Pearl Jam and Nirvana had sought mainstream success; both lead singers had found that success overwhelming, soulless and psychologically damaging. The whole Seattle Scene was founded on artistic and personal integrity, on maintaining a raw honesty of expression, and in many cases, by refusing to make concessions to the corporate music industry.

This touched a chord with many people; though ironically, the effect of mass acceptance was antithetical to what people like Eddie Vedder and Kurt Cobain were trying to achieve, and more to the point, wanted to become. The more people identified with their music, the more idolized they became, and the more they became removed from the same people they wanted to connect with.

These pressures ultimately got the best of Kurt Cobain, who took his own life in April of 1994, just as Pearl Jam were recording Vitalogy, and when listening to the record one gets the sense that, had Kurt Cobain not succumbed to those pressures, Eddie Vedder could have done so just as easily.

Originally released in 1994, this is a first release prior to the CD coming out. Pearl Jam were adamant that vinyl still captured something that CDs couldn't and It would be hard to find an example of this vinyl in such great condition these days. Would be a great edition to any collector's catalogue. As Eddy said, "Spin the black circle!"

The record looks excellent and has been rarely used. The gatefold cover is in fantastic condition with no signs of wear which is very unusual for a record of this vintage. This record would be a must for any Pearl Jam fan's collection.
