Penny Goodwin-Portrait of A Gemini- Northern soul/jazz 1st pressing red label.Sidney S101
This is a nice copy of this highly desirable collector's item.Penny was a great jazz/soul/lounge singer from Milwaukee.This album is from 1973,and features pianist Ray Tabs who still plays around here,plus Phil Upchurch on a couple tunes as well as great arrangements by Richard Evans,and a dozen other lesser known musicians.
Jacket condition is VG+.Colors are vivid on the front,just a touch of ring wear at the top.A touch of wear on one corner.Back has a very small stain in the top left corner.The white areas of the back cover are slightly discolored with age.
Vinyl condition is probably VG/VG+.There are a handful of light marks,and side 2 is a little pitted in spots,which is a manufacturing defect.I listened through it and didn't feel that the pitted areas played poorly.
The lead song on side one,Too Soon We're Old, has some surface noise,which decreases as it plays on.The rest of the side has a little bit of sporadic low level noise,not too obtrusive.
Side 2 is similar condition.First song,Today Is The First Day, has the most surface noise,which lessens as the side progresses.
The red label is vivid,has a little wear near the spindle hole.
Great music,a great record.I'm putting it up with no reserve.
