Description
In 1996, if you were a Pet Shop Boys fan, you definitely heard about this promo, with the "Penis" sleeve. It got a LOT of attention. The photo was the work of American artist Richard Prince, taken from a published collection of his photographs (from the book "Adult Comedy Action Drama"). PSB used it three times: this, the Red Penis sleeve, a Blue Penis Sleeve, and a double penis sleeve for "Truck Driver & His Mate." Naturally, I needed to own all three.
This was the first one I tracked down. I found it at a DJ/Dance store in the Castro. It was hanging on the wall. I asked how much, and they said it wasn't for sale. I went back every two or three days, pestering them about it. Finally they caved and I bought it. Persistence pays off.
Lazlo's old discography says the red sleeve was limited to 400 copies.
There are some condition issues here that I need to point out. The sleeve has some wear to it, more noticeable perhaps on the back than on the front. The "A" side of the vinyl is in Excellent condition, but the "B" side does have some scuffs. Both A & B side labels have a scratch on it (not on the vinyl, just the label).
