Double LPs in Hip Hop were not a regular occurrence (apart from Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince He’s a DJ.... in 1988). This was one of the first that created a trend which is a standard for vinyl album releases to this day.
Pete Rock must be considered as one of the greatest producers of all-time, alongside the likes of DJ Premier, Large Professor, ATCQ, Diamond D, later RZA, Havoc etc , with his horns and able to draw on Soul, Jazz, Reggae and Hip Hop itself, Pete Rock was an integral part of forming the East Coast sound of the 90’s.
This album, containing the classic T.R.O.Y. They Reminisce Over You, Straighten It Out, Soul Brother #1 (using bubble gum sample), Lots of Lovin’.... classic after classic .... went onto make Pete Rock, one of the most sought after remixers in Hip Hop.
