Description
This is the brilliant "Oak Ash and Thorn", by Peter Bellamy. Recorded for Argo in 1970, this was the first fruit of his passion for the songs of Rudyard Kipling. It was followed by "Merlin's Isle of Gramarye". The demise of the label has meant that none of the folk LPs released on Argo have ever appeared on CD.
Extremely scarce LP now - this copy is unique as Peter Bellamy signed the rear sleeve in blue biro AND added a cartoon bubble to the portrait of Kipling, who appears to be looking at the singer on the opposite side of the sleeve. Peter has Kipling saying: "Get that long-haired layabout off my record!", somewhat reminiscent of his sleeve for "Tell It Like It Was".
Musicians with Peter are Robin and Barry Dransfield, Royston Wood and Heather Wood (no relation ...).
UK pressed LP in excellent condition throughout, with the original inner sleeve. The vinyl has the inevitable hairlines, just a few occasional pops and very little hiss, and absolutely no loss of sonic clarity. The laminated sleeve has 'dinged' top corners but is otherwise outstanding - clean, sharp and virtually unmarked apart from the Bellamy doodling.

I cannot list postage at more than 4.00 pounds as eBay seems to think I'm in England, but it will in fact cost 7.50 pounds to airmail the LP to the UK - airmail is $18.15 Australian. Conversely, it will NOT cost 7.50 pounds as listed for Australian buyers, but around $10 Australian. Please email me if confused!
