Description

Peter Gabriel Ill. 200g. 4X12" Clear Clarity Vinyl. SVP-ll. 45rpm.  Still sealed in original shrink.  Mint.

Released in 1980 This is Peter Gabriel third and arguably his best album.  This sumptuous edition was released by the now defunct Classic Records label in 2010.  The box set comprises 4 x 45 rpm clear vinyl discs.  Each disc is single sided.

Pressed on Classic Records patented Super Vinyl Profile-II heavyweight vinyl for audiophile presentation.  From the opening bars of the catchy single Games Without Frontiers featuring Kate Bush to the closer Biko there is no filler here.  It really is all killer. Standout tracks other than the ones mentioned include Family Snapshot which deals with the JFK assassination, the hypnotic marimbas of Lead A Normal Life which highlights mental illness and Not One Of Us  which focuses on alienation.  Unusually for a Peter Gabriel album at this time it also includes a saxy instrumental called Start.

This album pioneered the,'gated" drum sound that would later be memorably featured by his ex bandmate Phil Collins on his solo album.   Phil Collins plays drums on a few of the tracks on this album.

Highly influential, this album eschewed the drummers hi hats and cymbals for aerosol can spray sounds, the better to highlight Robert Fripps virtuoso guitar work.  Paul Weller who was still in the jam in 1980 also guests.

I have owned this outstanding box set since 2010.  Imported at some expense from USA.  Hence the the starting price which is also the reserve.

International bidders always welcome.  eBay global shipping program will be used if the winning buyer is outwith the UK.  I will accept returns as long as the item is returned as sent i.e. sealed.

If you got this far thank you and good luck.
