Description
This is an original sealed mint stereo pressing of the 1964 debut album by British Invasion artists, Peter And Gordon. The LP is known to be original for two reasons. While the LP is sealed, the seal is open about six inches and visible is the original tan promotional inner sleeve which depicts other LP albums sold at the time and was only used at the time this LP was originally released. Also, Capitol Records identified on the back of the cover by way of number printed at the bottom near the spine the plant where the cover was made. In this case the number is 6 and the low cover numbers like 3,4,5 and 6 were only used in the mid 1960's, with later pressing having higher cover plant numbers. The number 6 indicates the cover was made in Los Angeles and is rare pressing for that reason alone. The LP cover includes the remnant of the original orange store price sticker which can be seen on the front cover near the Capitol Logo. This LP was bought sealed at Princeton Records in New Jersey, whose regular policy is to affix to the mouth of sealed LP their own sticker across the mouth to prevent the LP from being opened while in their possession and the remnants of that sticker can also be seen.
Peter and Gordon were a British pop duo, comprising Peter Asher and Gordon Waller who achieved international fame in 1964 with their first single, the million-selling transatlantic No.1 smash "A World Without Love" The duo had several subsequent hits in the so-called British Invasion-era. The hit song was composed for the duo by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
The cover is completely sealed and in beautiful condition with the exception of cut out hole in the top corner of the front cover near the spine. The LP is open at the mouth about 6 inches from the bottom to where the affixed store sticker over the mouth was located. All corners are slight worn There are slight creases at the top of the front cover near the spine and mouth, as well as near the bottom near the spine. The seams and spine are strong with no splits. The front and back of cover are very clean and vibrant.
The LP is being sold with no reserve and payment is expected within 3 days of close of auction.
Shipment of the LP by media mail costing $4 per album including tracking is only made to paypal confirmed addresses in the United States. If buyer bids upon and wins more than one item the buyer needs to wait for invoice to be issued showing the combined lower shipping cost. Return of the LP is only permitted if returned sealed.
