Up for sale is a scarce vintage record album (4 records and original case) of the classic tale of Peter and the Wolf. This is a spoken word recording with piano accompaniment.

Milton Cross (1897 - 1975) was a singer in his early days but became a household voice as an announcer. For over 43 years (from 1931 until his death), he was the announcer for the weekly live broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera. He also announced the radio quiz show Information Please and a musical humor show The Chamber Music Society of Lower Basin Street. Cross also published collections of synopses of famous operas and encyclopedia of famous composers.
Serge Prokofieff received a commission to compose a musical symphony for children in 1936. The inaugural performance took place in Moscow on May 2 of that year. The American debut took place in 1938 with Prokofieff conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Nathan Hale narrating. The Milton Cross narration is one of the earlier recordings. Over the decades, there have been many celebrity narrators including: Eleanor Roosevelt, Boris Karloff, Leonard Bernstein, Sean Connery, David Bowie, Paul Hogan, Sting, Sharon Stone, and even the trio of Mikhail Gorbachev, Bill Clinton, and Sophia Loren!
