Description

A rare and collectable Phillips Sound Recording Service  7 inch card record sleeve from the early 1960's.  This is the small back room studio in Liverpool run by Percy Phillips in which the Quarrymen (Lennon, McCartney, Harrision pre Beatles)  famously recorded their very first disc - That'll Be The Day/ In Spite of All The Danger in 1958. The sleeve for that  acetate would have carried a similar "Phillips Sound Recording Service" stamp/logo as on this sleeve. Phillips Sound Recording Service was the very first recording studio in Liverpool. It closed in 1969  - check out more info  at :

The card sleeve is in very good condition for its age with a stain top LH corner and a small pen mark to the front. The rear is plain with some small splash stains. The top opening shows some wear but the three edges are all in good condition with just a small split to top LH corner
