Description
These are the very rare engineer’s test pressings of Philly Joe Jones “Philly Joe’s Beat” on Atlantic 1340. Unlike traditional test pressings, the two single-side deep-groove records were prepared by the recording engineer for in-house use only, to detect possible flaws in the stampers and, in the case of stereo releases, to determine the accuracy of the balance and sound stage. The records are in virtually new condition, with a high luster; perhaps played once. Although engineer’s test pressings were not distributed with art covers, an original laminated cover is included: in beautiful condition throughout, with just a discoloration at the right margin of the back slick.
