Description
PiL Metal Box Album which I've owned since early 1980.
Unfortunately the track listing insert wasn't present when I got it as a swap for the 'London Calling' Clash album. I still think I got the better deal though!
At the time the album was released (23rd November 1979) I didn't have the money to buy it so saved original press clippings from NME and SOUNDS knowing that I would eventually get it. There's a page of lyrics from NME and a review from SOUNDS - 5 stars. They're both dated 24th November 1979. The lyrics sheet has the full track listing that I wrote down once I got the album.
The tin is in really good condition with no dents. It does have some light tarnishing and fingerprints, as they all do, but it's definitely one of the better ones I've seen and quite presentable. Most of the pictures of the tin make it look slightly better than it actually is; the one taken from the side angle gives the best representation of its actual condition.
The four paper dividers are all in very good condition, no tears or large creases.
The vinyl itself is all in excellent condition with no large scratches. All that can be seen is a few very light surface marks which don't affect its playing. All the tracks play without clicking or any loud crackling noises. The one blemish is that it has a locked groove near the end of the 'Careering' track on LP2 where it repeats endlessly until the needle is lifted off the record. Played it through this week to check it.
So, it is a nice one,not quite perfect, with the added bonus of its history and the two original clippings which I'd be amazed to find anywhere else. Selling as I don't play it these days so someone else can appreciate how awesome it is and how groundbreaking it was when released. Good times for music.
