Description
I have for sale a Rare, Unusual, Vinyl Album By PiL titled "Metal Box."
“Metal Box” is the 2nd album by Public Image Ltd and was released by Virgin Records on 23/11/1979.
Public Image Ltd was a band made up of Ex-Sex Pistols members. The line-up was John Lydon, Keith Levene, Wobble, Jeannette Lee and Dave Crowe.
It is quite a rare LP set, 3 Vinyls make up the album and it’s complete with Original Circular “Metal Box” that the LPs were kept in. It also has its original A5 Track Listing Sheet and LP Dividers as well as the “Metal Box” Label.
Track listing is as follows:
Metal 1.1 Albatross
Metal 1.2 Memories
Swanlake
Metal 1.3 Poptones
Careering
Metal 1.4 No Birds
Graveyard
Metal 1.5 The Suit
Bad Baby
Metal 1.6 Socialist
Chant
Radio 4
The album is described as “Post-Punk” and “Avant-Garde” and came in at number 469 on Rolling Stones “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time” and is a highly acclaimed album
The fact it has its original packaging, including “Metal Box” label, original dividers and original track listing, makes it quite a special find. The metal box has some oxidisation/rust to its lid, but no cracks or holes. The bottom of the box has some very slight rusting, no holes and it’s original “Metal Box” label is in great condition. The Metal box also has what appears to be paint splashes on it, but could easily be cleaned off. There are no dents or dings that I can make out to the box.
The Original A5 Track Listing has some creasing to it. It also has some staining, but track listings, names, PiL symbol etc is all very readable in its red writing.
The top divider has a hole in the centre and some staining. The bottom divider has some staining to it. The two central dividers are in great condition, no staining or holes. All dividers do have some creasing, but is consistent with age.
The LPs all play and sound excellent. There are some marks/scratches on the LPs themselves, but they are surface, not deep scratches, so don’t affect the playing. There is some staining to the original PiL album labels but not to all sides, some sides are very good condition.
I am happy to post internationally. I have listed European postage, for a country outside the EU, let me know your country and i'll get you a quote.
