Up for bid is a rare 7" EP, "Piano Red in Concert," by Piano Red. This is an original EP, released by Groove (EGA-7) in 1956. Tracks contained on this EP are: Umph Umph Umph / Got You On My Mind / Six O'Clock Bounce/ Please Tell Me Baby. The tracks on side 1, Umph Umph Umph & Got You On My Mind, are live recordings from a concert at the historic Magnolia Ballroom in Atlanta, Ga. William "Willie" Lee Perryman (October 19, 1911 – July 25, 1985), usually known professionally as Piano Red and later in life as Dr. Feelgood, was an American blues musician, the first to hit the pop music charts. He was a self-taught pianist who played in the barrelhouse blues style (a loud percussive type of blues piano suitable for noisy bars or taverns). His performing and recording careers emerged during the period of transition from completely segregated "race music", to "rhythm & blues", which was marketed to white audiences. Some music historians credit Perryman's 1950 recording "Rocking With Red" for the popularization of the term rock and roll in Atlanta. His simple, hard-pounding left hand and his percussive right hand, coupled with his cheerful shout, brought him considerable success over three decades.

You can read more about Piano Red on wikipedia. EP is a solid VG+, with several tiny faint scuffs. There is some light surface noise (some crackle and tics). EP is extremely clean and retains a nice gloss. Stamped matrix info reads G5 JH4078-1S / G5 JH4079-1S. Interior labels are extremely clean. Cardboard picture sleeve is a solid VG+, with no seam splits. There is a tiny crease in the front lower right corner. The other corners are remain sharp. There is light wear along the top and bottom seams. There are several small spots of discoloration on the back of the jacket (see pictures). Picture sleeve is extremely clean. Color on the front remains bright and the front retains a nice gloss. I can find no history of this scarce EP having ever been sold on Ebay.
