Rare original gatefold cover French press of this amazing electronic work featuring tape-processed instrument sounds (mostly strings and guitars) and wild experimental vocal utterances. This musique concrete piece was influenced by Buddhist chants but structured as a Catholic Mass; it was commissioned for the opening of the Cathedrale Metropolitaine du Christ-Roi de Liverpool, which, coincidentally, is literally made out of concrete. Henry collaborated with artist Jacques Spacagna to obtain some of the vocal effects.

Henry studied under Nadia Boulanger and Olivier Messiaen, and together with Pierre Schaeffer founded the world's first tape music studio; the INA-GRM became a center of study for electroacoustic pioneers like Francois Bayle, Michel Chion, Luc Ferrari, Francois Bernard Mache, Ivo Malec, Bernard Parmegiani, Michel Redolfi, Jean-Claude Risset, Ragnar Grippe, Jon Appleton, Jean Michel Jarre, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Edgar Varese, and Iannis Xenakis. Henry's groundbreaking work would influence contemporaries like John Cage, Jean-Michelle Jarre, Tod Dockstader, Jon Appleton, Vladimir Ussachevsky, Ilhan Mimaroglu, Tom Dissevelt, and Jean-Jacques Perrey. He has worked with Spooky Tooth, Coldcut, DJ Vadim, William Orbit, Fatboy Slim and Funki Porcini. This work is part of the experimental vocal tradition of Kurt Schwitters, Tristan Tzara, Joan La Barbara, Meredith Monk, Diamanda Galas, Charles Amirkhanian, text sound, Henri Chopin, Cathy Berberian, Laurie Anderson, Clark Coolidge, Brion Gysin, William S. International Shipping Up to 2 12" records to Europe/UK/Scandinavia/Asia/Australia is $23.00 for USPS First Class Airmail with tracking, and roughly $10 for every 2 additional lps depending on weight (7" records will cost less; heavy box sets will cost more). Up to 2 12" records to Canada is $16.50 for First Class Airmail with tracking. Up to 2 12" records to Mexico is $21.50 for First Class Airmail with tracking. Other international destinations vary as does the cost of adding additional lps depending on weight, email for a quote. Please note that First Class Airmail usually takes about 2 weeks and is uninsured. International shipments requiring insurance can use the faster but more expensive USPS Priority Mail International service or other expedited insured methods. Packing I pack professionally and with the utmost care drawn from years of experience trading vinyl internationally. I use new record mailers from Cameron Packaging (which I have determined are the best and most protective) reinforced with cardboard inserts and bubble wrap padding. All records are shipped with poly plastic sleeves and with the vinyl outside of the cover to prevent damage. All packages are completely sealed with strong packing tape covering all openings. Unless requested, no paper invoice is included in the package, both to save trees and to avoid customs difficulties. If you'd like your package done any differently, just let me know.
